DREAM Research Center Highlight 1 – Research Goals

Members of the DREAM Research Center met at the New Mexico EPSCoR O;ice in Albuquerque to share project updates and summer collaboration opportunities across the 4 participating research institutions: Navajo Tech, New Mexico Tech, UNM, and NMSU. To promote in-person and informal discussions and accommodate distances, the team connected virtually from two conference rooms across the state: one on NMSU campus in Las Cruces and one at the New Mexico EPSCoR o;ice in Albuquerque. Groups shared their latest accomplishments and reviewed progress summaries while inviting each other to visit neighboring labs and contribute suggestions to their upcoming work.

After this internal meeting, a small group of the DREAM Research team toured the facilities of Roadrunner 3D, a subsidiary of Westwind and budding industry partner with a state-of-the-art polymer-based additive manufacturing facility in Albuquerque. Roadrunner 3D graciously hosted the group and shared their enthusiasm to help guide and collaborate with research outputs from the DREAM Research Center, including adoption of new technology and prototypes. This industry partnership and others allow the DREAM Research to share and refine their mission by addressing real-world challenges, expanding workforce talent, and o;ering guidance for future experimentation or adoption of prototypes.
